1. Where are you from? What do you do for work? Family?
I was born and raised in Southern California. My family moved to Alpharetta from San Clemente less than 2 years ago when my husband took a new position at work. I am lucky to have had the opportunity to help my husband raise 3 kids who are now adults and we have a toddler together. I work in marketing for a national wireless provider.
2. When did you start CFP?
I started CrossFit on accident. A friend dragged me to a boot camp that evolved into a CrossFit gym and I loved it! I was surprised when my preference for cardio shifted to lifting. I was hooked. After we moved to Atlanta I struggled to find a gym that was the right fit. I tried 4 gyms before I found United Performance. Luckily my husband saw coach Macy at the grocery store. Based on what she was wearing he knew she did CrossFit, and asked her where she worked out. My first workout at CFP was 15.5 during the 2015 open. Seeing the members of the gym support each other during the workout helped solidify in my mind that CFP was a great place to be.
3. What’s your biggest fitness/health accomplishment since starting CFP?
Sticking with it! Before CrossFit I wasn’t consistent with any one fitness routine for longer than a year. It’s so much more than just going to the gym, it’s a big part of my life. My Dad tried
CrossFit after hearing me talk about it nonstop. He lives in CA most of the year and is a member of a gym there. When he is in Atlanta a couple months each year he’s a CFP member too!
4. What are your future fitness goals?
Move faster and lift heavier, work on improving my form on lifts and start to participate in competitions again.
5. What do you do for fun?
I chase my toddler around and of course CrossFit. My husband and I love to cook, entertain, and explore Atlanta.
6. Favorite lift/workout?
Squats are a limiting factor for me, so right now I’m all about power cleans. Power anything!
7. Least favorite lift/workout?
Anything with rowing or air assault. Gross.
8. What advice would you give to anyone wanting to start at United Performance?
First, know that in choosing CFP you really are making a great choice in gyms. I have been a member at many gyms both in California and Georgia. The programming and coaching at United Performance is exceptional. And the CFP members you workout with actually make it fun! Once you get started, make getting to the gym a priority, a non-negotiable part of your schedule. Set personal goals and as you achieve them keep setting harder goals. No matter if it is just showing up 4 times a week or getting that first muscle up, you’ll surprise yourself with what you can achieve.
