- Where are you from? What do you do for work? Family?
I am technically from Elkhart, Indiana but moved every 4 years. So collectively Atlanta is home. I work for AT&T in Global Operation. I have 2 adorable daughters, Ellie- 5 yrs. and Katherine- 4 yrs. and a wonderful husband, Dave, who is my CrossFit buddy!
- When did you start CFP?
I started in March 2014 with my husband Dave.
- What’s your biggest fitness/health accomplishment since starting CFP?
My biggest accomplishment would be that CrossFit has re-trained my brain on what I thought about fitness. It has challenged me to change my perspective (i.e. stop looking at the scale). It has made me mentally and physically stronger. It has also allowed me to show my girls what they are capable of and how important it is to take care of yourself and to continually challenge yourself to go beyond what you thought you could do.
- What are your future fitness goals?
This year my focus is on “manly” push-ups and getting a pull-up (or more)!
- What do you do for fun?
Spending time with my family, running, playing tennis, anything at the lake and entertaining!
- Favorite lift/workout?
I love back squats!!
- Least favorite lift/workout?
Any sprint type workouts (4 mins at 100% freaks me out!)
- What advice would you give to anyone wanting to start at United Performance?
“I’m not telling you it’s going to be easy. I telling you it’s going to be worth it”. No lie, getting out of the car and walking into the gym was the hardest part at first. I was sore for like 3 months, I got nervous before every WOD countdown and thought many times “if I was doing this at the gym by myself, I would have totally quit by now”. It is totally worth the time and energy you put into it and the benefits go way beyond the workout! Also if you are married, join with your spouse! Having a partner who you can talk to about the pain, suffering, the PRs, the WODs, why CrossFit is awesome, etc. is an added bonus!
